Well the restoration continues, but in the mean time I wanted to give my family a little idea of how exhilarating a gentle paddle can be, and as any chance of using our canoe this year is fading fast!!!
So while on holiday visiting family in America we had a chance to paddle down the ShenandoahRiver on a seven miles stretch of gently flowing water just near Front Royal in Virginia. The water quite shallow in places and beautifully clear, we saw turtles sunbathing on the river banks (they got away to quickly to get a photo), herons gliding just over the surface of the water and the fish swimming to avoid them.
